“No Good Hiding Place”a Dramatization

Project Description

The Physical and Mental Health Committee of the Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presented a playwright’s, Soror Daphne Austin, dramatization, “No Good Hiding Place” as an initiative into mental health. This play “lifts the veil of secrecy and stigma of mental health and acknowledges the elephant in the room” as to how to deal with this illness in our black communities.  After the EduDrama, education through drama production, a term coined by the Austin, the audience engaged in a powerful talk-back session with some of the city’s mental health providers and deconstructed each segment of the play providing the attendees with useful information and resources.
