Project Description
Jabberwock is a traditional program of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Members of the Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, in Boston, Massachusetts, presented the first Jabberwock in 1925 as an effort to find a new method of raising money for the chapter’s scholarship fund. The word ”Jabberwock” was copyrighted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. on December 28, 1947. The Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Jabberwock Scholarship Program also provides funds for scholarships given to young women, grades 6-12, who participate in the program. The scholarship funds assist with financial needs for participant’s education. The Jabberwock Committee has worked diligently to develop a Jabberwock program that provided a curriculum that includes innovative educational, cultural, community service, and self-enrichment activities and programs.
