Sunday’s Best at Bethel AME Church, Sunday, May 1 (10:00AM – Virtual or In Person – Registration is not required): Sorors are welcomed to fellowship with one another at the Bethel AME Church in Tarentum, PA. We are welcomed with open arms to worship with the presiding pastor Linda Williams-Moore and Rev. Dr. Judith Moore, leaders of the church and devoted members of Delta Sigma Theta! A Community At Work: Virtual Job Fair, Monday, May 2nd (6 – 8 PM – Virtual): Project Z is hosting a virtual Job fair for the Pittsburgh Community! Employers such as UPS, will be presenting with more information about their companies, benefits, how to apply and more! During the event, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and speak further with the companies they’re interested in. The Job fair welcomes both adults and teens (eligible for work)!
Community Table Talk, Tuesday, May 3rd (Time TBD – Virtual): We will be hosting a virtual community conversation on the topic of Intersectionality: Affinity to Blackness.
2022 Spring Basket Project, Wednesday, May 4th (This event is not open to the general public): The Spring Project Committee will be distributing personal care packages to residents at the Pennwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility! Additionally, an opportunity will also be provided for residents to register to vote during the event.
Words Matter: Anti-Stigma Pledge, Thursday, May 5th (6-8 PM – Virtual): The Physical and Mental Health committee has invited Dr. Latika Davis to discuss the Anti Stigma, which will promote the use of anti-stigmatizing language regarding mental health and substance abuse as well as eliminating the stigma around asking for help. Event is open to the public!
Spring Garden Project 2022, Saturday, May 7th (9:00AM – In Person): In partnership with the Western PA Conservancy, volunteers are welcome to plant flowers, maintain, and tend to the Homewood community garden, financially supported by the Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta! Gardening is a wonderful chance to get outside, fellowship and contribute to the neighborhood scenery. Rain or shine, gardening gloves and snacks provided [Address: Intersection of Frankstown Avenue and Bennett Street in Homewood (near Dallas Avenue).
