If so\, join us for our informational meeting for the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy program. \nThe Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority\, Incorporated is currently accepting applications for membership for The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy. \nThe purpose of Delta Academy is to prepare young women for the 21st century by:  \n\nEnriching their future through educational development and personalized attention; \nStrengthening their skills in math\, science and technology\, and exposing the ladies to non- traditional careers; \nProviding service learning as a method to which students learn through active participation in organized service experiences that meet actual community needs; and \nLending the young ladies the tools to help cultivate and maintain interpersonal relationships with female adults.\n\nApplicants must be female students enrolled in school\, ages 11-14\, and must have a sincere interest and willingness to participate in Delta Academy activities. \nInterested participants can apply via the chapter’s website at: https://dstpghalumnae.org/youth-programming-application/

DESCRIPTION:This year\, the Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta\, Inc.\, will be kicking off three youth programs! With the lack of community centers and ways to socialize\, we are offering a safe (virtual) space to bring our youth together! There are three youth programs to choose from during our first\, Youth Program Open House: \n\nThe Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy (for girls ages 11-14)\nThe Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS Institute (for girls ages 14-18)\nEMBODI (for boys ages 10-16)\n\nThese flagship initiatives will provide: \n\nmentorship\nconnection with peers\nvolunteer work opportunities\ntools for life planning to outline personal goals for work\, school and training\n\nThe Youth Program Open House is for young people from the ages of 10 to 18\, parents/guardians\, school counselors and community partners that wish to learn more about ways to participate and be involved!
