Collegiate Soror Scholarship

The Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is pleased to announce the Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter Scholarship Award for Fall 2018.  Its purpose is to recognize academic excellence, to stimulate undergraduates scholastically, and to help deserving undergraduates financially.


The chapter welcomes applications from undergraduate sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  In less than their senior year, matriculated at a college or university in the Pittsburgh area, from one of the following Delta Chapters: Mu, Theta, Theta Beta and/or Tau Beta. The undergraduate should be in good standing with her college or university, as well as her sorority chapter.

The applicant should have an overall quality grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.25 or better, and be able to express her views coherently while using a central idea, organizational skills and strong support points to address the essay topic identified within the application requirements section.

The applicant must be a financial Delta in the current semester when filing the application and for the subsequent fiscal year.  In addition, the applicant must be able to demonstrate her contributions of leadership, community service, and scholarship.  If the applicant is selected, the distribution of the scholarship award will be contingent upon receiving proof of their enrollment at a four–year accredited institution.


The award is given once a year. The soror who earns this award will receive $1,000.  A recipient may receive the award in multiple years based on meeting the application process for each year.


Secure an application from the Scholarship Chair via email by downloading it HERE.  Complete and mail the application packet to the Scholarship Committee.  The application packet consists of:  a completed application, two letters of references, and an official transcript in sealed envelope.

The application and all supporting materials must be submitted via U.S. Mail and postmarked no later than March 31, 2018.  No handwritten applications will be accepted. No applications will be accepted in person.  They must be sent via U.S. postal mail.  The awardee will be notified in writing the third week in May.  The award shall be formally presented during the Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter September meeting (if the awardee is able to attend).
